Keeping up with...Family (Weekly Wrap 9/7 - 9/13)

Monday (9/7) Happy Labor Day! We were all very thankful to have a three day weekend after what felt like a long week of school. We all slept in again this morning and I slept so late that I missed a coffee date with friends. I was bummed that I missed it but happy for the extra sleep and relaxing morning at home. Soon after we got up, we started working around the house as we had a pretty big to do list for this weekend. We were very productive and got a ton of stuff done around the house, including rearranging the playroom, fixing up the boys' bathroom, cleaning the house and planning for the week. The day passed quickly until we were interupted in the middle of our baking for the week with a tornado warning. We waited for a while but eventually headed down to the basement to wait out the worst of the storm. Thankfully it wasn't very bad here and we survived without any damage or anything.

When we came up, we all had dinner together to celebrate national salami day and Daniel and Zak both realized that they like salami. Then they headed upstairs for some video game time while Adrian played a solo board game and I finished up some work around the house. I got just about everything on my to do list done and feel very ready heading into this week. Hopefully that will continue! We called the boys down for their night routine and watched "High Score" with them. After we got them down to bed for the night, we watched two more episodes of "Parks & Rec" before we headed to bed too. Very thankful we had a fun, relaxing and productive long weekend. Hoping it's easier to get up early this week!

Tuesday (9/8) We were up bright and early, ready to start week 2 of school this morning. Unfortunately Zak was up even earlier than he needed to be at around 5am. Adrian got AJ up and started on his day while I showered and then got Daniel up and moving. Adrian headed upstairs to work for the day and I got the rest of the boys started on school for the day. AJ and Daniel did a great job of staying on task and logging in for all of their Zoom calls for the day. Zak did OK, he did great on the Zoom calls and in his first speech session, but he struggled with his independant work, probably because he was exhausted. We did what we could and then called it quits for the day.

When school was over for the boys, I took Rocky to her annual vet appointment. She had to go in alone and she did great! She got all of her vaccines and preventative medicine for the next year. She weighed in at 85 pounds and the vet complimented us on her good manners. I sat in the car and read my awesome book while she was in with the doctor. When she was done, I dropped her off at home and ran a bunch of errands. I went to pick up AJ's trombone from the store where we got it serviced so we can sell it to a friend and then picked up my Kroger order for the week. I finished with a quick trip thru Aldi. While I was out I got to see the Oscar Mayer weiner-mobile in front of me for a while which made me laugh thru the boring errands I was doing. When I got home, the boys helped me unload and put away all of the groceries, then we had tacos for dinner together.

After dinner, Adrian and I took Rocky for a nice long walk and caught up on each other's day. Then we cleaned up the kitchen and got ready for family movie night. Tonight we watched Adrian's pick of "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure." All three boys loved it and Adrian and I enjoyed reliving our youth while watching it. The kids were cracking up and all want to watch the other movies now. After the movie we got the boys to bed and then watched one episode of "Parks and Rec" before heading to bed as well. This week already feels like it's flying by, I have a love/hate relationship with these short weeks!

Wednesday (9/9) We got to sleep in a little bit today since the boys don't have any structured Zoom calls today. We still got up and moving fairly early since we have Patrick coming over to hang out today. Zak actually slept in which was good because he needed the rest after his behavior yesterday. When we all got up and moving and Patrick got here, the boys all did their school assignments for the day and were thankfully done in a few hours. They spent the rest of the day playing together. Most of the day then played with a marble track and Beyblade stadium that they built. There was so much laughter coming from the room, it was awesome. We were planning to go to a park but it was really hot out and everyone was having a great time so we decided to wait a week to do the park.

While the boys played, I worked around the house and cooked a ton of food for our dinner and a second dinner to bring to a friend who just had a baby. I also ran out quickly to pick up everyone's yearbooks from last school year. It was a super busy day for me, but I managed to get everything done. Melissa went to pick up our free school lunches after work and brought them here when she picked Patrick up which was nice because it was one less errand for me to run. After they left, I dropped dinner off to my friend and came home to finish cooking for us. We all celebrated national Soduko day by each doing a few puzzles tonight while getting dinner together.

After dinner, I headed out to the church to work for an hour. I got all of my Zumba paperwork done for the week and was able to visit with a few members of the worship team. After work, I ran to Giant Eagle to pick up a few things on sale there. While I was out, Adrian attended his weekly Zoom Bible study and the boys got free time to play video games. When we were all done, it was later than we expected so we took Rocky on a quick walk and then watched the first episode of "Cobra Kai" on Netflix. We all loved it! After that, we got the boys to bed, finished cleaning up from dinner and watched two more episodes of "Parks and Rec." When that was over, we headed to bed for the night too.

Thursday (9/10) Back to getting up bright and early to start Zoom calls by 7am. Adrian got AJ up and ready and then got Rocky ready to head to daycare for the day. After he came back, he headed upstairs to work for the day and start interviewing candidates for an open position in his office. I got Daniel and Zak started for the day and we waited for Cameron to get here for the day. When everyone was here, they all worked hard for their school day. Everyone did a great job of getting to all of their Zoom classes and getting all of their work done. In between classes they played on the trampoline, had a Beyblade tournament and built a different marble track.

After Cameron left for the day, I ran out to return a few items to the library and then came home to get ready for our evening activities. It was TV dinner day so we all had picked out frozen dinners to have tonight. I made the boys cook them on their own and clean up too. It was nice to have a very easy dinner for a night, although it took forever because we could only cook one meal at a time in our microwave, ha! The boys especially liked being able to sit in the living room and eat dinner while watching TV. After dinner, I headed to the church to teach a Zumba Toning class. We had a great time and also got a great workout. When I got home, we took Rocky for a walk and then started getting the boys thru their night routine. We watched the next episode of "Series of Unfortunate Events" together as a family before they headed to bed for the night. Then Adrian and I finished up cleaning the kitchen and watched two episodes of "Parks & Rec." We also caught a few minutes of the NFL kick off game, we're thankful to have football to watch again!

Friday (9/11) We survived another week of school! We were up early and everyone got started on what they needed to do. Adrian took care of Rocky and then headed to work upstairs. AJ started school and when Cameron got here, he and Daniel started school too. Zak slept in a bit and since his teacher was out, he didn't have anything scheduled so I let him sleep and start on his school work later. All four of the boys did a great job of staying focused and finishing up their work for the week. AJ specifically did a much better job of managing his time this week and has significantly less homework to do this weekend than he did last weekend. In between schoolwork, the boys played a lot of Beyblades and on the trampoline.

When they were done with school for the week, the four boys headed upstairs to play video games together for a while until Cam was picked up. Then AJ's friend Braven and his brother Gabriel came over to hang for a bit. The 5 of those boys played video games and Beyblades for about two hours and then they headed back home since everyone was tired from the week of school. We all had leftovers for dinner and then the boys had a little bit of free time while Adrian and I cleaned up from the day and took Rocky for a walk. Then we watched Zak's pick for family movie night which was actually the season finale of "Holey Moley" since it was a two hour episode. We enjoyed watching both the finale and the special after it. When it was over, the boys headed to bed and Adrian and I watched two episodes of "Parks and Rec" and then headed to bed too.

Saturday (9/12) We started our day early today since we had things to do this morning. I got up and ready and headed to the chuch to teach my Zumba class. We had a great time dancing this morning, even though I twisted my ankle on the way in and wasn't 100%. After class, a few of my friends headed out for coffee together to get a punch on our coffee tour of Columbus challenge. We went to Kittie's in Bexley which had OK coffee but delicious cinnamon rolls. It was a gorgeous morning to sit outside and catch up! While I was there, Adrian took Zak to his first week of his new bowling league. He did pretty good, but got tired since they bowl 3 games instead of the 2 that he's used to.

When we all got home, Adrian and I prepped our dinner and then we all headed out to meet Carl and his family at Lynd's to do the Jurassic corn maze. We had a great time finding our way thru the corn and finding the tyranosaurus rex! The kids also enjoyed playing the play area where the adults recovered because it was super hot walking thru the corn. After the kids played for a while, we headed back to our house where we enjoyed a delicious dinner together and some chocolate milkshakes for dessert to celebrate chocolate milkshake day! They left soon after dinner since they had to get home to Rosie so the boys headed upstairs to play video games and Adrian and I played a few board games. We played Seven Wonders Duel which I won and Roll for the Galaxy which Adrian won. In between games we watched 3 episodes of "Parks and Rec" and we all headed to bed soon after midnight as is our Saturday tradition.

Sunday (9/13) We slept in a little today since it's the one day that we didn't have to get up with an alarm for the week. Although it wasn't very late since our bodies are now used to getting up early. We watched church online together while enjoying breakfast and coffee. Then we got started on our weekly chores. Everyone worked hard to get there stuff done and there was no complaining from anyone about what we had to do. Adrian and I had NFL Red Zone on in the background which was fun to watch, even if the Jets lost their game. We took a break from working to do our weekly ice cream run, heading around the corner to Cones 'N Concoctions. We also went to Krispy Kreme to get donuts for the week and then played our monthly game of Machi Koro Legacy. AJ finally won a game this month, although I came very close to beating him at the last minute! He was very excited to finally get a win under his belt.

After the few hours of fun, Adrian and I went back to football and work and the boys got some free time to play video games. Then we had dinner and dropped the boys off at the church for their first weekly One8ty meeting. They played a bunch of water games there and had a great time! After they got home and had a little bit more free time, we all watched the next episode of "High Score" together before we got the boys to bed early since it's a school night. Then Adrian and I watched the Cowboys game together before we headed to bed too. I didn't make the end, I got too tired especially since we were behind since we started it late. It was a close game and we were both bummed that the Cowboys didn't pull out the win, and think that pass interference was a bad call!
